Review With Forrest MacNeil (2014)

This has to be one of the funniest and most overlooked TV shows I have ever seen. Review With Forrest MacNeil is a dark comedy that follows the format of a classic review show, but instead of reviewing restaurants or films, the host, MacNeil, reviews life itself. In-universe, viewers request him to review experiences such as ‘stealing’, ‘being Batman ‘, or ‘having a perfect body’. I love how committed MacNeil is to fulfilling any request. MacNeil’s misadventures in reviewing speak to today’s pressure to ‘lifemaxx’ and do a bunch of other bullshit just for the sake of doing it. While trying every single thing for the sake of just trying it seems like a joyous endeavor, it can very quickly turn sour. Abandoned hobbies pile up, sustained injuries compound, and most stop to ask, ‘how the hell did I get here?’ MacNeil, however,, never allows himself to pause, and we get to see how things play out. The most infamous episode of the series is the third of the series titled ‘Pancakes; Divorce; Pancakes’, give it a watch and see if the show’s for you. If you’ve laughed at any joke from Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, or Community, you must see ts. Idk why it’s not getting talked about more…
